Consultation process

Send an email to info@explantcostarica.com stating which procedure you are interested in, Explant (en bloc), lift, and your pictures (please refer to the photo guidelines). Our patient coordinator will review your images with Dr. Urzola, then send you a quote that is good for six months. If you accept, we can consult via Skype or FaceTime with Dr. Urzola.

Pictures and how to take them

Explant & lift, we will need pictures taken from the front, right and left of your breasts. Images should be from neck to waist with no bra.

Booking your surgery

Once you decide to book, contact our patient coordinator to secure a date.

Payments are made upon your arrival as follows:

Labs and tests required

Complete and send these within 15 days before surgery:

COVID-19 PCR test (done in Costa Rica the day before surgery)
Complete blood count (CBC)
Prothrombin time (PT) and clotting time
Blood type test (RH factor)
Pregnancy test (blood or urine)
EKG (without medical evaluation)
Breast ultrasound
Mammogram (if you are 40 or older)

Cancellation policy

If you altogether cancel your surgery, we withhold the $500 non-refundable deposit. We reserve the right to make minor adjustments to the scheduled date before your arrival due to unforeseen changes in Dr. Urzola's agenda; any changes are communicated in advance, and his staff will work with you one-on-one to find a solution.

Time required in Costa Rica

Dr. Urzola requires patients to arrive 2 to 3 days before the surgery date for the pre-op consultation and COVID-19 test, and to stay 10 days after the surgery date.

Packing list ideas

A few things that make recovery more comfortable:

Passport
Slip-on shoes
Button-up shirts
Loose clothing
A light jacket
Antibacterial soap (e.g. Hibiclens)
Arnica & bromelain for bruising
OTC medication for constipation
